Umud Rahimoglu met with the Representative of the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation in Azerbaijan
The Chairman of IEPF –Umud Mirzayev meet with Mrs. Tarana Bashirova, the Representative of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UN FAO) in Azerbaijan. The meeting was arranged by the United Nations Department of Public Information (UN DPI) office in Azerbaijan. U. On the occasion of April 4th – the International Day for Mine Awareness, Representative of the UN Department of Public Information Office in Baku, Azerbaijan – Envera Selimovic, and Umud Rahimoglu, Chairperson of International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) visited Borsunlu village of Tartar. E. Selimovic who met with the local population and mine victims was interested in their living conditions.
Tartar regional center on March 30th witnessed the opening ceremony of the Tartar Regional Vocational Training Center (VTC) constructed within the project “Establishment of Vocational Training Centre (VTC) for Mine Victims and retired de-miners in Tartar Region of Azerbaijan”. Rahimoglu informed the guest about activity directions of IEPF, its links of cooperation with international organizations, projects implemented in the humanitarian and developmental areas.
The most number of journalist deaths in the last decade was registered in 2009.The information about it was expressed in World Press Freedom Review disseminated by International Press Institute (IPI). While the highest figure till now in the last decade was 100, 110 journalists were killed in 2009. Therefore last year was considered the most dangerous and grave year for journalists.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) adopted a ruling that confirmed the rights of news organisations to protect the confidentiality of their sources. International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) was informed about this occurrence by the International Press Institute (IPI). With this ruling, five news organisations – The Guardian, The Independent, the Times, the Financial Times and Reuters – won a case against the Belgian-based brewers Interbrew. In 2001 a UK court ordered these organizations to hand over leaked documents submitted to Interbrew by its financial advisers about a possible bid for South African Breweries. They brought the case before the ECHR in response to this judgement.
