International Eurasia Press Fund

Today a round table üas held within a project “Researching of the state of acccess of mass media to the world information area in Azerbaijan, learning of international mass media’s experience and establishing cooperation with them” which is being  implemented by International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) by the finance of the State Support Fund for Mass Media under the President of Azerbaijan Republic. The current state of Azerbaijan press, establishing of international experience and cooperation were effectively discussed at the round table organised in the meeting hall of the headquarter office of IEPF. Siyab Memmedli, head of Program Department of IEPF, who opened the event, gave detailed information about the project to participants.

Azer Hesret, international expert on press spoke about the duties ahead in his report on  the state of acccess of mass media to the world information area in Azerbaijan, and also on the cooperation with international media organisations.

Rey Kerimoglu, a representative of IEPF gave general information about an inquiry conducted among local mass media and media organisations and stated that the results would be analysed.

Mushfig Alesgerli, a member of Observation Council of the State Support Fund for Mass Media under the President of Azerbaijan Republic, vice-chairman of  Azerbaijan Press Council, and chairman of Trade Union of Journalists stressed on the project touching upon important matter and necessity of establishing of international relations.

Gafar Chakhmagli, head of League of Independent Investigative Journalists stated that he came across accidentally while representing the country with people and organisations from various countries of the world.Therefore it is important to involve people who support development of national press into these cooperation.

Rahim Huseynzade, Executive Director of Azerbaijan Press Council, Jeyhun Musaoglu, a representative of the newspaper “Adalet” (“Justice”), Reshad Bachshaliyev, an editor of the newspaper “Sherg” (“ The East”) and Laura Jebrailli, a representative of Azerbaijan Commitee of International Press Institute joined in the discussions and expressed the importance of organizing of mutual trips for learning of international experience and  establishing cooperation, and involving of journalists from periodical press on these trips.

Arif Alesgerli, a representative of  the State Support Fund for Mass Media under the President of Azerbaijan Republic spoke about the essence of the projects, financed by Fund which was established as a result of state concern to press, and  a necessity of informing of the public about execution of these projects.

Representatives of Zerdabi Press Centre, RUH Protection Commitee of Azerbaijan Journalists, Legue of Democratic Journalists, Azertaj State Agency, APA, the newspaper “Yeni Musavat” (“New Musavat”), “525th newspaper” and other press organisations participated in the event.
