5 journalists were killed in 1991
- Ali Mustafayev - Azerbaijan State TV. He was killed together with 23 persons in a helicopter that was blown up by Armenian invaders at the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh
- Osman Mirzayev – Azerbaijan State TV. He was killed together with 23 persons in a helicopter that was blown up by Armenian invaders at the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh
- Arif Huseynzade – Azerbaijan State TV. He was killed together with 23 persons in a helicopter that was blown up by Armenian invaders at the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh
- Fakhraddin Shahbazov – Azerbaijan State TV. Was killed together with 23 persons at the helicopter blown up by Armenian invaders at the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh
- Salatin Asgarova – “Azerbaijan Youth” newspaper. She was killed by Armenian invaders at the Nagorno-Kharabah territory.
2 journalists were killed in 1992
- Chinghiz Mustafayev – Azərbaycan State TV. He was killed while filming Azerbaijanis killed by Armenian occupants;
- Kazimagha Kerimov – independent journalist. He was killed by Armenians at the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
2 journalists were killed in 1995
- Adil Bunyadov – Reuters. Was killed after being wounded by bullet in government forces confrontation with armed rebellions;
- Farhad Kerimov – Worked at the “Turan”, Reuters” and “Associated Press” news agencies. He was killed when preparing reports about battles in Chechen Republic.
2 journalists were killed in 1999
- Telman Dibirov – Local DM TV station in Balaken District. Equipment of Studio was stolen, journalist was knifed and investigation has not determined the real killer. According to sources in Balaken he was killed because of he had classified information on questionable dealings of state officials)
- Ibrahim Niyazli – Chief Editor of “Konsensus” weekly newspaper. He was killed by own colleague Azer Mammadov. Killer was arrested and punished.
2 journalists were killed in 2005
- Elmar Huseynov – Chief Editor of “Monitor” magazine. He was killed at the entrance of his flat when returning home. Killer(s) has not been determined yet.
- Alim Kazimli – Photo-correspondent of the “Yeni Musavat” newspaper. He was subjected to physical and spiritual attack by policemen of Passport Registration Office at the Narimanov District of Baku in December 28, 2004. Upon the result of heavy physical injure he received insults. In spite of doctors’ effort he died on June 19, 2005.
Additionally, two foreign journalists were killed by Armenian aggressors in Azerbaijan territory. They are editor of “Milostivıye gosudari” newspaper Valeriy Dementyev (Russia) and the correspondent of radio “Mayak” Leonid Lazarevich (Russia).
