Mexican Journalist Gunned Down in front of Colleagues

The director of the Internet site of Mexico’s Radio Vision, Norberto Miranda, was killed last week by  five gunmen who entered his office. Six journalists will be freed in honour of holy Ramadan in Gambia

International Press Institute (IPI) is saddened by the murder of French-Spanish photojournalist and documentary-maker Christian Poveda in the Tonacatepeque municipality of El Salvador’s. According to the news given to International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) by IPI, police found Poveda’s body in a car in the small village of El Rosario, with multiple bullet wounds to the head. Two Journalists Detained in North Korea have been Released

laura-ling-and-euna-lee-sentenced-in-north-koreaIPI welcomes the release of US journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee, who were detained on March, 17 close to the North Korean border with China and had been sentenced to 12 years hard labour. They have been released after surprise visit of former US President Bill Clinton, who met with the country’s leader, Kim Jong Il. According to the information given to IEPF by IPI, the plane carrying the former President and the two journalists has already arrived at Burbank airport, near Los Angeles. Harsh Draft Law Intending Jail for Journalists has been made in Venezuela

Venezuela’s Attorney-General Luisa Ortega Diaz introduced a harsh new draft law that intends jail for up to four years for journalists. The “Special Draft Law against Media Crimes” which was presented before the National Assembly on July, 30, includes severe prison sentences for different media offences. Read more »
